Research Data
When you upload CSV or RIS files, we process the paper metadata (titles, authors, abstracts, publication years, DOIs, etc.) to provide our analysis services. This data is stored in your account and is only accessible to you.
Usage Data
We collect information about how you use the application, including the number of papers extracted, features used, and general interaction patterns. This helps us improve the service.
Payment Information
Payment processing is handled by Stripe. We do not store your credit card details. Stripe’s privacy policy governs the collection and use of your payment information.

- To provide AI chat functionality for querying your datasets

4. AI Data Processing
PaperSynapse uses AI to process paper abstracts and provide chat functionality. When you use these features, the relevant text data (abstracts, chat messages) is sent to a third-party AI provider for processing. Your data is not used to train AI models.
5. Third-Party Services
We rely on trusted third-party service providers to operate PaperSynapse. These providers may process or store data on our behalf in the following categories:
- Payment processing - Secure handling of payments and subscription management
- Authentication - Account sign-in and identity verification (including social login providers)

We use cookies for authentication session management. We also use browser local storage to persist your theme preference and application state. We may use analytics for basic performance monitoring, which may use cookies.
8. Data Retention
We retain your account data and saved projects for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your data will be removed within 30 days. Contact us to request account deletion.
