By accessing or using PaperSynapse, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our service.

2. Description of Service

PaperSynapse is a web-based platform that uses artificial intelligence to extract structured metadata from academic paper abstracts. The service includes file upload, AI-powered data extraction, visual analytics, AI chat, project management, and data export features.

3. Account Registration

You must create an account to use PaperSynapse. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to provide accurate and complete information when creating your account.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the service for any unlawful purpose
• Upload malicious files or content designed to exploit the system
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the service or its infrastructure
• Interfere with or disrupt the service for other users
• Resell, redistribute, or sublicense the service without permission
• Use automated tools to scrape or overload the service

5. Your Content

You retain ownership of all data you upload to PaperSynapse, including CSV files, RIS files, and any extracted results. We do not claim any intellectual property rights over your content. You grant us a limited license to process your data solely for the purpose of providing the service to you.

6. Subscriptions and Payments

PaperSynapse offers free and paid subscription plans. By subscribing to a paid plan, you agree to the following:

• Subscriptions are billed monthly through Stripe
• You may cancel your subscription at any time from the billing dashboard
• Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period
• Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis at our discretion
• We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days notice

7. Usage Limits

Each subscription tier includes a monthly limit on the number of papers that can be extracted. Usage resets at the beginning of each billing cycle. If you exceed your limit, you will need to upgrade your plan or wait until the next cycle.

8. AI-Generated Results

The extraction and chat results provided by PaperSynapse are generated by AI and may not always be accurate or complete. You are responsible for reviewing and verifying any AI-generated output before using it in your research. PaperSynapse is a tool to assist your work, not a replacement for professional judgement.

9. Service Availability

We strive to keep PaperSynapse available at all times but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control. We are not liable for any loss or inconvenience caused by downtime.

10. Limitation of Liability

PaperSynapse is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or research delays.

11. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms of Service. You may delete your account at any time by contacting us. Upon termination, your data will be removed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes by posting the updated terms on this page and updating the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
